Las Vegas home of Team Tompkins opens their doors to remember “The Coach”
As fans and media file into Las Vegas this week for UFC 137, the TapouT Training Center is hosting an event on Friday night to honor Shawn Tompkins.
The charismatic and always smiling Tompkins passed away unexpectedly this summer at the age of 37.
Tompkins established his base of operations at the TapouT Training Center over the last few years, opening his doors to anyone and everyone who wanted to come through. Friday evening, the facility will do the same, opening their doors to the public to celebrate the life of our departed friend.
The event, which will feature guest speakers including Team Tompkins members Sam Stout and Mark Hominick, long time Tompkins mentor and friend Bas Rutten, and MMA personality Mike Straka, runs from 6:00-8:00pm. The event will also feature a silent auction.
Bidding for the silent auction will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and winning bids will be announced at 7:45 p.m. Auction items include autographed sports memorabilia from UFC, NFL and MLB athletes, among other items with proceeds supporting the Shawn Tompkins Memorial Fund.
“It was a privilege for everyone at TapouT Training Centers to have worked Shawn, and to have called him a friend,” said Kekoa Quipotla, TapouT Training Center’s owner in a press release for the event. “We are honored to host this event and invite the local and MMA communities to come together to celebrate an incredible man’s life.”
The TapouT Training Center is ocated at 4040 W. Hacienda Avenue in Las Vegas.
