Fighter exchanges key component of deal
On the same day the world’s largest MMA promotion announced its return to Japan, two of Asia’s biggest promotions announced a deal.
Dream and One FC on Monday announced they have joined forces to co-promote events and participate in fighter exchanges. According to a release from the promotions, the fighter exchanges are expected to happen immediately.
The first event in the partnership was announced for March 31. According to the release, the event is awaiting third-party approval, but is expected to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and will be called “One FC/Dream in Singapore.”
“I am thrilled by this partnership,” Victor Cui, CEO and owner of One FC, said in the release. “Japan has the highest level of MMA fighters in Asia due to its long history in the sport. Dream is the most prestigious event in Japan. With this partnership, One Fighting Championship and Dream will continue to showcase the most exciting fights between the best fighters in Asia. I am truly excited by the potential of this partnership to create new opportunities for fighters, gyms, sponsors, advertisers and media partners.”
One FC is based in Singapore and launched over the summer with its first event taking place in September. Dream is based in Tokyo and has held 19 events since its debut in 2008.
