Welterweight champ watching UFC 143 main event closely

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre may not be fighting in the main event at UFC 143 Saturday, but UFC Fight Club members will get a chance to get a good look at him Friday at an exclusive Q&A session prior to the weigh-ins for this weekend’s event.

The Q&A session begins at 2 p.m. Pacific, though doors open one hour prior at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Only Fight Club members have access to the event.

The weigh-ins for UFC 143, however, are open to the public and will begin at 4 p.m. Pacific, with doors for the public opening at 3 p.m.

In Saturday’s UFC 143 main event, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit battle for the interim welterweight title. St-Pierre will be on the shelf for much of 2012 after surgery for a torn ACL. The champ was originally expected to meet Diaz in the main event Saturday. When news broke of his injury, Condit was tapped as the replacement.
