Quinton Jackson Returns Against Glover Teixeira At UFC 153

“Rampage” meets Teixeira in Rio

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is set to return to action against Glover Teixeira at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this fall.

UFC officials confirmed the fight today, though Globo was first to report the match up.

Jackson last fought at UFC 144 against fellow contender Ryan Bader, losing via unanimous decision. The loss was his second in a row, as he lost to light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 135 in September of last year.

Alongside his recent struggles inside the cage, “Rampage” has also experienced trouble outside of it, battling with the UFC. At this point, all signs point to Jackson and the promotion parting ways after this fight, considering both parties have continuously expressed unhappiness with the other.

Meanwhile, Teixeira has had some problems of his own. After debuting with the promotion at UFC 146 against Kyle Kingsbury, the Brazilian has struggled to find a top-level match up, and rightfully so. He dominated Kingsbury en route to a first round submission victory.

Following the win, the UFC offered him a fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but Rua, a former 205 lb. champion, refused the fight, stating that Teixeira lacked the name-value he was looking for in an opponent.

Now, Teixeira enters his contest with Jackson on a lengthy winning streak. He has not lost since 2005 and stands at 18-2 as a professional.

UFC 153 is set for October 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. No other fights have been announced for the card.
