Dos Santos vs. Velasquez expected for Dec.
A heavyweight title fight between UFC champion Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez is likely for December 29 at the promotion’s annual year-end show.
UFC president Dana White revealed the news following UFC 150 last Saturday in Denver.
Dos Santos and Velasquez first met at the first-ever “UFC on FOX” event last November. Velasquez lost his heavyweight title to the Brazilian striker after a first round knockout loss.
Since then, dos Santos has competed just once, as he met Frank Mir earlier this summer at UFC 146. The champ defended his title, earning a second round technical knockout stoppage win.
Meanwhile, Velasquez also has fought one time since losing his title. He, too, competed at UFC 146, earning a technical knockout victory over Antonio Silva.
The two will now meet in their rematch at the end of the year. The fight will headline the yet-to-be-announced event, which is expected to be UFC 155.
