UFC middleweight Jake Shields

Jake Shields fined, suspended six months

A disciplinary complaint from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agenices’ Boxing Commission has revealed that former Strikeforce champion and current UFC contender Jake Shields has been suspended for six months.

MMAjunkie.com acquired a copy of the complaint.

Along with the six month suspension, Shields was fined $5,675 and his win over Ed Herman from UFC 150 has been changed to a no contest.

Shields revealed the news of the positive drug test last week, stating his regret and guaranteeing that “this will never occur again in my fighting career.”

The Ultimate Fighting Championship later released a statement, supporting the Commission in the effort to fight performance-enhancing drugs and other illicit substances in the fight game.
