Sexual parasites, disembowelment, zombies, serial killers, demon children, violent vixens, rabid office workers and angry embryos are just a few of the things you’ll find in director Anthony G. Sumner’s intelligent, gruesome and spectacularly entertaining horror anthology film. In the wonderfully creepy Lynchian opening, a young woman wakes up outside a bizarre motel with no memory of who she is; she pages through three sketchbooks in search of clues to her identity, which prompts a trilogy of grand guignol tales: a put-upon and desperately lonely office drone experiments with mind control and unleashes an email virus unlike any other; a young mother-to-be is haunted by a recent series of child kidnappings and plagued by visions of a child who may be more demon than angel; and a brother and sister on the run from their sexually abusive uncle come across a mysterious hottie being held prisoner by her father — for a very, very good reason. Sumner pulls out all the stops and knows how to get the most (and then some) out of a limited budget, resulting in a gleefully creative freak show that’s full of tricks, treats and surprises. The third segment’s payoff is especially jaw-dropping — we’ll just mutter the term “vagina dentate” and let your imagination wander from there. Zoinks!
