Simons drove past Russell Westbrook and made a layup with one second remaining, sealing the victory and ending the Trail Blazers' six-game skid. While Portland has struggled with injuries, Simons has been a steady presence in the starting lineup, missing only three of 24 games this season. He's in the midst of an excellent three-game run, averaging 26.0 points, 7.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

Simons has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games just four times this season, so the lack of consistency conspires a bit against his fantasy upside. That said, he has the green light to shoot from everywhere as one of the Blazers' go-to offensive options. Simons has been trending in the right direction in recent weeks, averaging 20.4 points per game across his last eight appearances.
Erupts for 30 in loss
Simons contributed 30 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 11-11 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals across 37 minutes during Friday's 118-116 loss to San Antonio. The veteran guard tied his season high in scoring, matching the 30 he put up against the Pacers on Nov. 27. Simons has produced at least 14 points in seven of 10 games since returning from a sprained hand, averaging 18.1 points, 4.9 assists, 3.3 boards, 2.7 threes and 1.0 steals over that stretch.

Simons is firmly entrenched as one of the Blazers' top options on offense, but the star guard has been struggling massively from the field. His volume has been high enough to believe he can hover around the 15-point or 20-point marks on a regular basis, but that hasn't been the case of late due to his shooting woes. Simons has failed to reach the 15-point mark in four of his last eight contests and is shooting just 30.8 percent from the floor in his last two games, both contests in which the Blazers have lost by at least 20 points.

Simons ended his streak of games with at least 20 points in abrupt fashion, but this seven-point outing wasn't his lowest-scoring output of the campaign. Instead, and in a worrying trend, it's becoming an issue fantasy managers are getting used to when dealing with Simons. He's posted single-digit points in five of his last nine appearances, a span in which he's averaging 14.3 points per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the field. Simons should remain rostered across all formats, but the lack of consistency he's experiencing in recent weeks certainly limits his upside, particularly in formats where the lineups need to be established for an entire week.
Scores team-high 27 points
Simons finished with 27 points (9-11 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal in 23 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 137-131 loss to the Mavericks. Simons was extremely efficient in this contest, and he would've been perfect from the field had it not been for two missed three-pointers. Simons came just three points shy of matching his best scoring mark of the campaign, and he's trending in the right direction following his return from a three-game absence due to an illness while also dealing with a right hand sprain of late. Simons has scored at least 25 points in three of his last five appearances.
Pops for 21 against Kings
Simons ended with 21 points (8-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 41 minutes during Friday's 115-106 win over Sacramento. The 25-year-old guard has delivered more than 20 points in three of the last four games, although Simons managed only five points in the fourth contest, and the nine dimes Friday were a season high. He missed three games earlier this month due to a sprained hand that he had attempted to play through, but since returning Simons has looked healthy, going 15-for-41 (36.6 percent) on three-point attempts over the last five games.

Simons supplied 30 points (10-21 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds, six assists and one steal over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 121-114 loss to Indiana. Simons delivered arguably his best performance thus far, scoring a season-high 30 points to lead all scorers. Simons' offensive output has been wildly inconsistent this season, scoring at least 20 points on seven occasions, while also scoring single digits five times. Despite some inefficient scoring, Simons should continue to be the focal point of the Trail Blazers' offense moving forward.
