The Magic signed Wagner to a five-year, $224 million rookie contract extension Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Wagner's five-year contract extension could be worth up to $269 million if he earns an All-NBA selection. The 22-year-old forward is one of the best young players in the league, averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.5 minutes across 72 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. Wagner and Paolo Banchero have established themselves as Orlando's building blocks, as the Magic's 47-35 record from last season was the franchise's best since the 2010-11 campaign (52-30).

Franz Wagner Latest News
Agrees to massive extension
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/orlando-magic-logo-1.png?w=150)
Perfect from line in victory
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/orlando-magic-logo-1.png?w=150)
Wagner amassed 26 points (7-16 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 11-11 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 42 minutes during Friday's 103-96 win over the Cavaliers in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Wagner went a perfect 11-of-11 from the line, helping the Magic to an impressive Game 6 victory. It was another strong performance by Wagner, who continues to develop into a key piece for Orlando. Game 7 will take place Sunday, with both teams vying for a second-round berth against the high-flying Celtics.
Stars in Game 4 win

Wagner finished Saturday's 112-89 win over Cleveland in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 34 points (13-17 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists and one block in 40 minutes. Wagner didn't score more than 18 points through the first three matchups of the opening-round series but exploded for a game-high 34 in Game 4 and was incredibly efficient. His 34 points marked his most since Feb. 8, and his 13 rebounds were a career high. Wagner struggled mightily with his three-point shot to end the regular season, but he's made at least two triples in three of four postseason games thus far.
Nears double-double Thursday

Wagner provided 16 points (6-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and eight assists across 30 minutes during Thursday's 121-83 victory over the Cavaliers in Game 3 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Wagner is known for his scoring ability, but in a game where Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs carried the offense, Wagner made his presence felt as a distributor, with his eight assists being his highest output since Dec. 26. Wagner should remain a capable presence on the offensive side of the ball for the Magic, as he's averaged 17.3 points per game through the first three contests of this first-round series.
Nears 20 points in balanced outing

Wagner tallied 18 points (5-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 38 minutes in Orlando's 96-86 loss to Cleveland in Game 2 of the first-round playoff series. Wagner struggled to find his shot a bit in Monday's defeat but still provided a lift offensively by ending two points shy of the 20-point mark while leading all Magic players in rebounds in a balanced performance. Wagner has put together back-to-back strong showings for Orlando to start the opening-round series, posting 18 points and seven boards in both contests.
Stuffs stat sheet in loss Saturday
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/orlando-magic-logo-1.png?w=150)
Wagner posted 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 38 minutes during Saturday's 97-83 loss to Cleveland in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Paolo Banchero led the way for the Magic in this loss, and while Wagner had a rough outing from the field, he still salvaged his fantasy value by delivering a strong performance across the board, particularly on defense, with four steals-plus-blocks combined. Most of Wagner's value is tied to what he can do offensively, however, and on that note, he's now scored 18 or more points in six of last seven appearances dating back to the regular season.
Balanced showcase in 25-point game

Wagner notched 25 points (10-21 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists and three steals across 33 minutes during Sunday's 113-88 win over the Bucks. Wagner helped Orlando to a win in the regular-season finale Sunday by ending as one of two Magic players with 25 or more points to go along with a team-leading trio of threes and a handful of rebounds in a balanced outing. Wagner surpassed the 25-point mark in 16 games this season, rounding out the regular season by scoring 20 or more points in five of his final six outings.
Scores 24 points vs. 76ers

Wagner posted 24 points (9-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 35 minutes during Friday's 125-113 loss to Philadelphia. Wagner returned from a two-game absence due to a right ankle sprain Friday and led the Magic in scoring. He has shot 50.0 percent or better from the field in each of his last five games, scoring 20-plus points in four of them. Orlando will need all of Wagner's scoring for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Bucks, as a loss could drop the Magic out of the top six in the Eastern Conference.
Good to go against Philadelphia

Wagner is available and in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus the 76ers. Wagner has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday after missing Orlando's last two games with a right ankle sprain. The 22-year-old forward should replace Caleb Houstan in the starting five against Philadelphia.
