Post tallied a career-high 20 points (7-12 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT) to go with five rebounds and three assists across 20 minutes in Thursday's 131-106 win over the Bulls. A second-round draft pick from Boston College who has spent most of the season in the G League as one of the Warriors' two-way players, Post has emerged as a key bench piece in Golden State's last three contests. Though his prior two appearances came in the final 14 minutes of a 40-point loss to the Celtics on Monday and during a loss to the Kings on Wednesday in which Kevon Looney exited early with an illness, Post entered Thursday's contest while the game was still competitive. He first subbed in for Looney with 3:47 remaining in the first quarter, and after drilling a three-pointer and assisting on an Andrew Wiggins dunk, he stayed in the game to begin the second quarter. Though he picked up four fouls in his 20 minutes, Post impressed with his perimeter shooting and passing skills, and head coach Steve Kerr said after the game that the improvements the rookie has shown in defending the pick-and-roll since the season started have increased the Warriors' comfort in playing him, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. While Draymond Green (calf) and Jonathan Kuminga (ankle) remains out and with uncertain return timelines, Post looks as though he could stick in the rotation. However, Thursday's game probably represents the higher end of what he can provide.

Drills five triples in blowout win
Post tallied a career-high 20 points (7-12 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT) to go with five rebounds and three assists across 20 minutes in Thursday's 131-106 win over the Bulls. A second-round draft pick from Boston College who has spent most of the season in the G League as one of the Warriors' two-way players, Post has emerged as a key bench piece in Golden State's last three contests. However, Thursday's game probably represents the higher end of what he can provide.
Season highs in G League win
Post logged 29 points (11-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 15 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 33 minutes in Saturday's 136-130 G League win over the Iowa Wolves. Post recorded season highs in scoring and boards Saturday, marking his seventh double-double over 13 G League appearances. The two-way center has averaged 18.6 points and 9.2 rebounds across 27.3 minutes per contest with Santa Cruz this season.
Double-doubles in G League win
Post produced 20 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 30 minutes during Friday's 110-96 G League win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In the 12 games played for Santa Cruz this season, Post has recorded six double-doubles. The 24-year-old big man is averaging 17.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in the G League, shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and 29.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Team-high 22 points in G League
Post notched 22 points (7-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Saturday's 123-89 G League loss to the San Diego Clippers. Post scored at least 20 points for the first time since the G League season opener when he finished with a season-high 25 against the Valley Suns. Across eight G League appearances, Post has averaged 17.8 points while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from deep.
Off injury report Sunday
Post (thumb) is off the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against Minnesota. Post is available to suit up after dealing with a thumb injury that held him out of G League play. The rookie big man is signed to a two-way pact with the Warriors, though he has yet to make his season debut with the parent club.
Inks deal with Golden State
The Warriors signed Post to a two-way contract Tuesday, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Golden State traded for the No. 52 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft to select Post out of Boston College. The rookie big man is now set to split time between the Warriors and their G League affiliate in 2024-25.
Makes SL debut
Post (leg) generated 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds, and assist and a steal across 14 minutes of Friday's 90-83 win over the Thunder during Summer League. Post has been dealing with a minor leg injury he sustained during a pre-draft workout and was held out of the California Classic and early portions of Las Vegas Summer League before suiting up Friday. Post possesses a stretch-big skillset, shooting 38.8 percent from long range across five collegiate seasons while standing at seven feet tall.
Sitting out Summer League
Post (leg) isn't on the Warriors' Summer League roster, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Post has been tending to a minor leg injury and will be held out of Summer League to recover. Golden State acquired the rights to Post on draft night after he was selected with the No. 52 pick and the injury should be an afterthought once the regular season rolls around.
Traded to Golden State
Post's draft rights were re-acquired by the Warriors from the Thunder in exchange for cash, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Slater notes in acquiring Post, the Warriors are now firmly against the second apron and their roster can't exceed $189.5 million for the upcoming season. That reduces Klay Thompson's potential salary and complicates the Chris Paul guaranteed date, which is Friday. Slater also notes Post has a minor leg injury that could prevent him from playing in Summer League. When asked about Post's fit with the team, general manager Mike Dunleavy responded, "We believe in the shooting. His free-throw shooting is really good. His pick-and-pop percentage is really good. ... You want players who can do more than one thing. We think he rebounds, defends at a level at the rim that's NBA acceptable. Good passer."
