The Bengals released Woodside on Tuesday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Woodside was unable to win a 53-man roster spot as the Bengals' QB3 behind Joe Burrow and Jake Browning. He faired okay during the preseason, completing 41 of 58 passes for 379 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Woodside could land on the practice squad as an emergency option.
Woodside signed a one-year contract with the Bengals on Tuesday. Woodside was selected by Cincinnati in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft and will return to the team after stops with the Titans and Falcons.
