Six years after Dwyane Wade announced he was separating from his high school sweetheart, Siohvaughn Funches, the former couple finally reached a divorce settlement, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
Wade’s attorney said in a statement Monday that the Miami Heat star “provided a very generous settlement” to Siohvaughn Funches. Funches will receive $5 million and there is a non-disparage agreement in the settlement, where each party must refrain from making disparaging remarks about the other.
Wade originally filed for divorce from Funches, who is the mother of his two children, in 2007. In 2011, the basketball player won a separate court battle in to get full custody of his children with him in Miami.
Funches recently made headlines when she was spotted out on the streets of Chicago on Friday claiming she was homeless because she was not receiving financial support from Wade, however, the Heat star says he’s been paying her $25,000 a month, and also paid for her mortgage and four cars.
“Ms. Funches has made a mockery of homelessness which is a serious and personal issue for Mr. Wade as his mother was homeless for a period of time when he was a child,” Wade’s attorney, James B. Pritikin, said in a statement.
