WATCH: Derek Jeter Drives in Run in Last At-Bat, Leaves to Standing Ovation

The last at-bat of Derek Jeter’s career wasn’t quite as dramatic as his last at-bat at Yankee Stadium. But in both cases, Jeter went out with an RBI single.

Jeter came to the plate for his second at-bat in the top of the third, with Ichiro Suzuki on third after hitting a two-run triple that put the Yankees ahead 2-0.

The Captain hit a high chopper to third, where rookie Garin Cecchini unsuccessfully tried to make a one-handed, leaping grab. Cecchini bobbled the ball, giving Jeter his 3,465th and final Major League hit.

Manager Joe Girardi motioned to Jeter from the top step of the dugout to ask whether he wanted to come out. When Jeter said yes, Girardi sent in catcher Brian McCann to pinch run, giving Jeter a chance to leave the field to a standing ovation from the Fenway Park crowd.

Fenway, packed with Sox fans and Yankees fans alike, sounded like Yankee Stadium as fans serenaded the Captain with one last “De-rek Je-ter” chant.
