Josh Gordon is in trouble with the league — yet again. This time, it’s for failing a drug test, according to ESPN. This is the second time this season he has been punished by the league and the third time overall.
If Gordon does not win an appeal, he will face a 1-year suspension.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Gordon Had Alcohol in His System
Gordon tested positive for alcohol.
2. His First Rule Violation Was With the League
Gordon’s first suspension this season came after he was arrested for a DWI. He missed the first ten games of the season because of it.
3. His Second Violation Was With the Browns
His second suspension came from the Browns. They suspended him for the final game of the season for missing practice. The practice was a walkthrough in preparation of their Week 17 game against the Ravens.
4. He Had a Very Unproductive Season
Gordon finished the season without a touchdown and only 303 yards.
5. His Future With the Browns is Unclear
According to ESPN Cleveland, the Browns almost traded Gordon last season, but refrained when they only received a less-than-first-round offer from San Francisco. That trade would have given the Browns a “starting-caliber player and a second-round draft choice,” according to the article.
He missed too many games this season to be a free agent next year, but the Browns do have the option of trading or cutting him.
