Rodriguez entered the club just over a month shy of his 40th birthday July 27th). Entering the 2015 season, there were several players who were in the realm of the Club, with a realistic opportunity at the accomplishment before their own careers end. The list of players and their hit totals — as of June 18th, 2015 — includes:
Ichiro Suzuki — 2,885 hits
Adrian Beltre — 2,604 hits
Albert Pujols – 2,519 hits
Among players with 3,000 hits, only Rafael Palmeiro and Pete Rose are the only two players not in the MLB Hall of Fame. Palmeiro has been snubbed by the voters due to his role with performance-enhancing drugs and Rose is still serving his lifetime ban. While it is a stretch to believe Palmeiro will be inducted someday due to his suspension and link to PED use, Rose’s ban won’t last forever and he should realistically be inducted eventually.
