While things got a little bit glamorous on the red carpet prior to the awards ceremony on Sunday night, there was also work to be done after the honors were handed out. Some of the top names in the NBA, many of whom picked up awards at the inaugural event, were also on hand for the NBPA union meeting, focusing on commissioner Adam Silver’s claims that a “significant number” of teams are losing money.

Chris Paul, the president of the player’s union, said on his way into the awards show that the agenda for the meeting was clear, but declined to elaborate. Meanwhile, the union’s executive director Michelle Roberts added that it was an important time for the NBA, saying:

This is an important time for the game, and it is critical that we have marquee players involved in the discussion. While I’m going to enjoy tonight (at the awards show), I’m really going to enjoy tomorrow (during the union meeting).
