Time to back up that talk, Robert Griffin III.
After saying that he felt like he is “the best quarterback in the league, and I have to go out and show that,” the injury-prone Washington Redskins quarterback will get the opportunity to do just that when his team squares off against the Detroit Lions in week two of the NFL preseason. Although his comments drew their fair share of criticism earlier this week, Griffin’s work during the offseason has been unquestionable and his coaches have spent the better part of training camp singing his praises.
Griffin finished 4-for-8 in the air for 36 yards in limited action last week, so it’ll be interesting to see how the QB performs this time around.
The Lions are also confident in who they’ve got under center with Matt Stanford’s play buoyed by one of the most talented receiving corps in the entire NFL. Add an intriguing run game and Detroit’s offense might just be a force to be reckoned with this year. Then there is the defense. There is no more Ndamukong Suh but that might be a good thing. The Lions boast a strong contingent of capable defenders on the front line and more than enough talent to, collectively, replace Suh. Much like Griffin in Washington though, now they’ve got to prove it.
Kickoff for the preseason tilt is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast locally in Washington on NBC 4 and on FOX 2 in Detroit. Click here for a full TV schedule. Here’s how to watch online if you can’t catch it on TV:
