Patriots vs. Steelers Line: How Tom Brady’s Ruling is Affecting the Odds

That sound you hear is money pouring in on the New England Patriots following Judge Richard Berman‘s decision to overturn Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has the news of the ruling:

Prior to the ruling, the Pats were 6.5-point favorites for their Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which suggests some were already anticipating Brady would win his appeal.

As OddsShark.com pointed out, the line moved to minus-7 within minutes at some places, while their odds to win the AFC East and the Super Bowl have also increased already.

For the Week 1 contest, you can bet it will continue to move in New England’s direction. The Pats are at a home with a full offensive arsenal (minus Brandon LaFell), while the Steelers will be without both Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant.

Moreover, if you’re a believer that Bill Belichick, Brady and Co. want to run up to score in a middle-finger-type-response to the NFL, the first game of the season on primetime is certainly a good opportunity to do that.

All things considered, with Brady back in tow, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Super Bowl champs were favored by double-digits come next Thursday night.
