Meet Kyler Murray, Texas A&M Quarterback

Kyle Allen struggled early against Alabama. He threw two pick sixes and Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin decided a change was needed. He inserted backup quarterback Kyler Murray into the game.

Murray has played throughout the season for the Aggies as a change of pace type of quarterback. He rushed for 69 yards against Arizona State in the first game of the season.

According to Scout.com, Murray was a five-star recruit out of Allen, Texas. He received scholarship offers from a number of schools including Auburn, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida. Teams were intrigued by his blazing speed and dual-threat capabilities.

Murray was also a talented baseball player. ESPN had him ranked as the 34th player in the draft. Ultimately, Murray declined to enter the draft:

According to AL.com, Kyler’s father, Kevin Murray, played quarterback for the Aggies in the 1980’s. He also played minor league baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers. His uncle Calvin Murray was a good baseball player for the Texas Rangers.

Murray is active on both Twitter and Instagram.
