Several key players are set to return for Manchester United, who are flying high after wins in three different competitions. Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and possibly Chris Smalling could all play a role today against Watford, who have never beaten United in ten attempts.
Martial could return to his normal spot at the lineup, sending Marcus Rashford back to the reserves. The teenager has scored four goals in his first two appearances with the senior squad, and should at least play a role in the squad until Martial is fully healed. Watford have failed to score in five of their last seven Premier League fixtures, and now head to Old Trafford where United have been tough at home. The Reds have allowed just seven goals in 13 fixtures at Old Trafford this season, best in the Premier League.
With Sunday’s win over Arsenal, United are back in the hunt for a spot in Champions League. Van Gaal’s men are now just three points behind local rivals City, but FA Cup and Europa League could keep the squad busy through the spring.
