Golovkin vs. Wade Fight Result

Another night, another knockout for Gennady Golovkin.

GGG made quick work of the inexperienced Dominic Wade, ending the fight with a second-round knockout.

Golovkin didn’t waste any team working on Wade, and sat Wade down at the end of the first round with an overhand right.

He kept the pressure up in the second, knocking Wade down again with one minute remaining. Wade gave one final effort, landed a few shots, and was sat down for good at the close of the second round by a vicious right from Golovkin.

Gennady Golovkin may be a 100-1 favorite heading into tonight’s title defense against Dominic Wade, but GGG shouldn’t overlook the Maryland native. Wade is 18-0 with 12 knockouts in his young career, and has nothing to lose against the heralded Golovkin. The reigning champ is riding a 21-bout knockout streak into tonight’s fight, and has admitted that he didn’t even know who Wade was until a few weeks before the fight was made. This will be Wade’s first fight scheduled to last 12 rounds, and he only barely defeated 41-year old Sam Soliman.

With boxing fans looking ahead to a possible Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez bout, GGG should continue his dominance tonight in Inglewood. Wade has the better reach and has nothing to lose, but he’s outmatched against the power punching of Golovkin. It’s a huge opportunity for Wade, but there’s little chance this fight lasts the full 12 rounds.
