And then there were two.
The 2016 Women’s College World Series comes down to No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 4 Auburn, who both ripped their way through their respective brackets over their last couple of days.
The Sooners, playing in front of a partisan crowd in Oklahoma City, got a gem from starter Paige Parker and a walk-off homer from Shay Knighten to beat Alabama in the opener, using that momentum to then topple Michigan and LSU.
Auburn, meanwhile, has gotten it done with its offense. In wins over UCLA, Georgia and Florida State, the Tigers piled up 22 runs. They did it in a variety of ways, too, using timely hitting in the first two contests and a home-run barrage (Kasey Cooper, Jade Rhodes and Carlee Wallace all went deep) in the third.
Oklahoma is seeking its second national championship in four years, while Auburn is making its first appearance in the Women’s College World Series finals.
