It’s time for the semifinals at the 2016 French Open.
On the men’s side, No. 1 Novak Djokovic will play his third match in as many days against rising star Dominic Thiem, the 22-year-old who hadn’t even made a major quarterfinal before this, let alone a semi. The other matchup, which pits defending French Open champ Stan Wawrinka against No. 2 Andy Murray, has a chance to be an instant classic.
Similarly, women’s No. 1 Serena Williams is up against a relative newcomer, 24-year-old Kiki Bertens, who is past the second round at a major for just the second time in her career. On the other side of the draw it’s a couple of seeded players, as No. 4 Garbine Muguruza takes on No. 21 Samantha Stosur.
