Soccer fans tuning into Euro 2016 may be surprised to see Ivan Perisic’s bold tribute to his country. Perisic’s hair was dyed in a red and white checkered pattern. The haircut is a nod to the national colors of Croatia as well as the checkered pattern found on the country’s shield.
In addition to his outlandish hair, Perisic has been a key player in Croatia’s success in Euro 2016. Heading into the Round of 16, he had scored two goals in the tournament.
His play was a big reason Croatia won Group D with seven points. As the midfielder faced off against Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal, he decided to enter the pitch with the checkered haircut.
Aside from playing for the Croatian national team, Perisic plays in Italy for the club Inter Milan. He also has experience playing in Germany’s Bundesliga.
