PGA Championship 2016: Projected Cut Line, Rules & Updates

The PGA Championship is often the most unpredictable of the four majors, and that’s ringing true at Baltusrol in 2016.

With the cut line finalized at +2 (full leaderboard here), there are a number of stars who won’t be playing on the weekend

The No. 1 surprise has to be Dustin Johnson, who shot a brutal opening-round 77 and followed that up with a 72 on Friday to miss the cut. For DJ, who entered as the hottest player in the world with six consecutive Top-10 finishes, it will be his first missed cut since March 2015 (he withdrew at the St. Jude Classic in June 2015), ending a streak of a TOUR-leading 25 consecutive weekends reached. It’s also the first such occurrence at a major for him since the 2014 Masters.

Another of the “Big Four” going home early is Rory McIlroy, who shot a birdie-less 74 on Thursday and couldn’t quite clear the line after a 69 on Friday. It’s his second major missed cut of the year (US Open), which is the first time he’s done that since 2010.

Other notable names who missed the cut: Gary Woodland (+5), Sergio Garcia (+5), Kevin Chappell (+5), Matt Kuchar (+6).

For the uninitiated, the Top 70 players plus ties after two rounds made the cut.
