Wales are in their first-ever semifinal at a major tournament, but have key players suspended from their showdown with Portugal on Wednesday.
Aaron Ramsey has been exceptional in this tournament, but the Arsenal midfielder will be out of this contest. He’ll be joined by left-back Ben Davies, who is also suspended. The pair could cause problems for manager Chris Coleman, especially Davies, who will be missed against the speedy wingers of Portugal.
Ronaldo’s team haven’t won a match at Euro 2016 after 90 minutes of play, but two consecutive shootout wins have Portugal back in the semifinals. It’s the sixth trip to the final four for Portugal, who have played more Euro games (33) than any nation without winning the tournament.
Of course, the big focus for the match will be the two Real Madrid stars facing off. Ronaldo and Gareth Bale work in tandem for Madrid, and they’ve been essential to their respective teams at Euro 2016. Bale has more shots on target than anyone else at Euro (14), while Ronaldo is one goal away from the tournament’s all-time scoring record.
