Qualifying Info & Preview
Of the five available spots on the USA women’s gymnastics team, one automatic bid will be awarded to the all-around winner after two days of competition.
The favorite there, of course, is Simone Biles, who has won gold at the last three World Championships and hasn’t lost an all-around competition in more than three years.
A selection committee will decide on the remaining four spots. 2012 Olympians Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman are expected to make the team, while other candidates include 16-year-old Lauren Hernandez, who finished third in the all-around at the P&G Championships last month, as well as Madison Kocian, Ashton Locklear and Maggie Nichols.
