WWE News: Could The Rock Fight Bray Wyatt at ‘WrestleMania 33’?

In an interview on SportsCenter this week, WWE’s Bray Wyatt teased a possible match between himself and The Rock for next year’s WrestleMania.

Wyatt said on the program that following WrestleMania 32, he and Dwayne Johnson have unfinished business.

“Being out there with The Rock…It was cool, I guess I would say, but I would also have to admit that we have unfinished business,” he said. “And if he’s listening, if he’s watching, Rock, I would love to finish it at WrestleMania 33.”

Wyatt is referred to his feud with The Rock that unfolded at this year’s WrestleMania; after The Rock faced Erick Rowan, Dwayne Johnson and John Cena went up against The Wyatt Family, with The Rock himself taking down Bray. It was a pretty short segment, but Wyatt is clearly hoping for something bigger to take place between the two at 2017’s WrestleMania.

Could that actually happen? That remains to be seen. Fans may recall that The Rock was originally going to have a major match against Triple H at WrestleMania 32, but those plans were cancelled when the producers of one of Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming films intervened, fearing delays on the movie if The Rock was injured. His movie schedule won’t be any less hectic by the time WrestleMania 33 rolls around, as he’s currently signed on to shoot Baywatch, Fast 8, Jumanji, Doc Savage, Rampage, Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon, San Andreas 2 and Shazam.

The threat of Johnson being harmed isn’t just theoretical, either; The Rock’s last two WrestleMania matches left him with serious injuries, and he ended up in the hospital following his 2013 match with John Cena.

Bray Wyatt has had several big matches at WrestleMania events recently, including one with John Cena and another with The Undertaker. Slipping in and out of character, Wyatt told ESPN that the latter match was one of his greatest moments with the WWE so far.

Wyatt explained, “Facing Undertaker at WrestleMania is the greatest thing that you can possibly do here. He’s above titles. He’s not a man, he’s something much greater. Being around him and his aura is fascinating to me. I remember as he was coming down the ramp at WrestleMania, just looking at him and knowing it’s on…it was quite a feeling, something I’ll never be able to recreate I’m sure.”

For now, the Wyatt family are wrapped up in a feud with The New Day, with a confrontation between the two being teased on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
