Jose Mourinho is back at Stamford Bridge on Sunday when he leads his new club Manchester United against Chelsea. Mourinho spent six season managing the Blues over two stints, winning back-to-back Premier League titles from 2004-2006. This will be his first time facing Chelsea in the Premier League, and he’d most certainly like his team to be more prepared than they are now.
United play their third fixture in six days on Sunday, a schedule that will continue as various cups take over the midweek. This week it was Europa League and Fenerbahce, next week it’s Manchester City in the League Cup. Chelsea will have had a full seven days between Sunday and their previous match, a 3-0 victory over champions Leicester City.
The schedule does not leave United unscathed, and Chris Smalling is a match-time decision for Sunday. Chelsea will get Oscar and Willian back with the team, but Antonio Conte has not revealed if they will factor in the lineup.
