The Bears, fresh off their first win of the season, head to Indianapolis to visit the struggling Colts.
Despite playing last week in London, the Colts are right back to work the next week. The Colts are the first team in NFL history to play the week following a game in London, and while this would seem like a disadvantage, it’s what the Colts requested.
Indianapolis was offered the bye by NFL schedule-makers, but they opted instead for a later bye week. Now the Colts have their bye in Week 10, splitting the full NFL schedule into two halves.
While the Colts try to avoid a schedule controversy, the Bears may have a quarterback controversy in the works. Brian Hoyer got the win filling in for the injured Jay Cutler next week, and Bears coach John Fox is in no rush to get Cutler back on the field. When asked about Fox riding a hot hand, he told reporters, “I think it’s performance-based. Anybody that’s performing well, I don’t think we’re going to be likely to change.”
