With the start of the college basketball season less than a month away, programs across the country are holding special events to kick things off in front of their respective fan bases. For Kentucky that means “Big Blue Madness,” the annual event which is scheduled for Friday night at Rupp Arena. The event is being broadcast live on SEC Network, with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.

As has been the case throughout his time in Lexington head coach John Calipari once again welcomes one of the nation’s best recruiting classes. Guards De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk are both incredibly athletic players, and in the front court Edrice “Bam” Adebayo, Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones are all highly regarded recruits as well. They’ll join returnees such as guard Isaiah Briscoe and forward Derek Willis, and with all that talent Kentucky is on the list of national title contenders heading into the 2016-17 season.

The team held its annual combine Sunday night, with 90 NBA scouts and executives making the trek to Lexington to see yet another loaded roster. Friday night’s event gives Kentucky fans their first look at this team on the Rupp Arena floor, with their being player introductions and an intra-squad scrimmage. As noted above, coverage begins on SEC Network at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
