After last week’s loss to Brazil at Belo Horizonte, La Albiceleste face a near must-win game Tuesday against Colombia. Los Cafeteros have struggled mightily in Argentina, but Argentina have been struggling no matter where they go.
If taking just two points in their last four games wasn’t enough, last week’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil raised serious concern’s about Argentina’s World Cup chances. If qualifying ended today, Argentina would miss out on Russia 2018. But given how crowded the table is, Argentina could win today and be right back in the mix.
If tonight doesn’t go their way, expect Argentina manager Edgardo Bauza to be on the hot seat. Argentina rarely ever slips like this, and injuries aside, this is not a team that belongs in the bottom of the South American standings.
Colombia have drawn their last two matches, and come to San Juan ready for a victory. They had more chances in last week’s draw to Chile, but had more chances, only to be stifled by Chile captain Claudio Bravo.
