England and Scotland meet at Wembley for just the third time this century on Friday. It’s the first competitive meeting between these teams since 1999.
Theses teams first faced off in 1872, but England hold the upper hand in the rivalry. Scotland is still relevant in UEFA World Cup qualifying, and could even draw level in Group F with a surprise win over England.
England manager Gareth Southgate has lots of decisions to make up front, where he has both Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney available. Rooney will captain the side, but it’s unclear how large his role will be with the team. Harry Kane is on the way back from an ankle injury, and his weekend start against Arsenal was his first action in seven weeks.
England and Scotland last met at Wembley in 1999, when Scotland scored a 1-0 victory on a goal from Don Hutchinson.
