Looking to advance past the NFC wild-card round for the fifth year in a row, the No. 3 seed Seattle Seahawks will host the Detroit Lions next weekend.
Here’s a look at everything you need to know to watch:
Seahawks vs. Lions Viewing Info
Date: Saturday, January 7
Start Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
TV Channel: NBC
Early Preview
Neither of these teams have played their best football lately.
The ‘Hawks have alternated wins and losses for the last seven weeks, most recently losing to the Arizona Cardinals at home before barely topping a hapless San Francisco 49ers squad to secure the No. 3 seed on Sunday. The offense has been up and down–though it has been far more successful at home–while the defense hasn’t looked the same since losing Earl Thomas to a broken leg.
The Lions, meanwhile, seemed to have the NFC North locked up a couple weeks ago but proceeded to lose three in a row to close the season. The often potent offense has really struggled during that stretch, averaging just 17.0 points.
It’ll be interesting to see which team can right the ship at this crucial time. Recent history suggests that team will be the Seahawks–especially at home, where they are 7-1 on the year–and they’ll certainly be favored, but no matter what happens, there’s a good chance this turns into one of the most entertaining games of wild-card weekend.
