Mackenzie Dempsey is engaged to New England Patriots center David Andrews. The two have known each other since they attended the University of Georgia, where Dempsey was a cheerleader.
Andrews is a second-year player for the Patriots and was signed as an undrafted free agent. He played in all 16 games of the 2016 season and will play in his first Super Bowl on February 5.

1. The 2 Are Getting Married in April 2017
According to their wedding website, the two are getting married in April 2017 in Dalton, Georgia.
The couple met at the University of Georgia and were friends. Finally, during their junior year, Dempsey agreed to go out on a date with Andrews. “We started dating and David swept me off my feet and it keeps getting better,” Dempsey wrote on the site.
2. Andrews Proposed to Dempsey in the Middle of Sanford Stadium
As Dawg Nation notes, Andrews popped the question in the middle of Sanford Stadium, the home of the Georgia Bulldogs. Andrews returned to Georgia when the Patriots had a bye week in October 2015.
Dempsey wrote on the wedding site that, after she said yes, they went to a the same Athens, Georgia bar where they had their first kiss in 2013.
3. She Started Cheerleading When She Was Only 2 Years Old
Dempsey, who graduated from Cedartown High School, was one of 150 girls who tried out for the UGA cheerleading squad in 2011. She was really excited to make the cut, since she has been cheerleading since she was two years old and has been an all-star cheerleader since fifth grade.
“I always wanted to go to Georgia,” Dempsey told North West Georgia News in 2011. “It’s the home state school and it will continue my tradition of wearing red and black on the sidelines and cheering for the Bulldogs. I had went to a cheerleading camp there in middle school and ever since then I wanted to cheer at UGA.”
She was picked to cheer at football, volleyball and basketball games, and gymnastic events.
4. Dempsey Graduated From UGA’s College of Public Health in 2015
In May 2015, Dempsey graduated from UGA’s College of Public Health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion.
According to her LinkedIn page, Dempsey interned for the East Georgia Cancer Coalition while in college. She was also a certified nursing assistant at the Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cedartown, Georgia.
She was also on the UGA Relay for Life Survivorship committee.
5. She Now Works at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Cambridge
After graduation, Dempsey was as a management trainee at Parallon in Rome, Georgia, working under the Patient Access Supervisor and Manager.
In May 2016, Dempsey joined Andrews in the Boston area by getting a job at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Cambridge as an intern. On her LinkedIn page, she describes her work:
Working within the case management department focusing on creating organizational guidelines and policies to better advocate for Disorders of Consciousness Program patients in terms of receiving insurance coverage for various DOC program interventions.
