Ho-hum. Another Big-12 tournament, another No. 1 seed for Kansas.
For the 11th year in a row, Bill Self’s squad will enter the postseason conference tournament as the top seed and team to beat. The Jayhawks have turned the previous 10 instances into six titles, including a win in last year’s tournament, but they’ll have plenty of competition this year.
West Virginia and Baylor have hovered around the Top 10 nationally for most of the season, while Iowa State beat Kansas in Lawrence, and Oklahoma State is 10-2 in its last 12 after a brutal start to the season.
There’s a bit of a drop-off after that, but with five likely NCAA tournament teams and a slew of first-round NBA talent, this year’s Big 12 tournament will be as good as always.
