The WCC tournament may have lost some of its national appeal when Gonzaga lost its first game in the regular season finale, but there are still plenty of storylines from Las Vegas over the next week.
The Zags are still looking to bolster the resume in hopes of securing a No. 1 seed, Saint Mary’s is trying to establish itself as a legitimate contender in March and BYU is an obvious team to watch after snagging one of the biggest upsets of the season in Spokane.
Here’s a look at everything you need to know about this year’s WCC tourney:

Preview
Per BracketMatrix.com, an accumulation of 119 bracket predictions, Gonzaga is currently holding onto the fourth No. 1 seed, which means it’s pretty much imperative the Zags win this thing if they want to remain in that position.
The first two likely matchups–either Pepperdine or Pacific in the quarters, then either Santa Clara or San Francisco in the semis–shouldn’t present Gonzaga with many problems. Their eight wins against those four teams this season came by 30, 47, 20, 21, 31, 35, 15 and 35 points.
Assuming they advance to the championship, they’ll meet either St. Mary’s or BYU. Both teams offer an intriguing matchup, as BYU–as we just saw–has a superstar it can lean on in Eric Mika, while the Gaels–though they’ve struggled against Gonzaga this season–have the offensive firepower to give anyone trouble when they get hot.
When it comes down to it, Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s will represent the conference in the NCAA tournament later this month, but if BYU plays anywhere close to as well as it did against the Zags, it could very well be three WCC teams in the Big Dance.
