The Dominican Republic is on the hunt for its second-straight World Baseball Classic championship. The country has competed in every WBC tournament — 2006, 2009 and brings another loaded roster full of some of the best baseball players in the world.
In 2006, the Dominican Republic took fourth place in the event, but play declined in 2009 and the team was eliminated in the first round. They turned around and flipped the script in 2013, winning gold by defeating Puerto Rico in the championship game.
The Dominican Republic has over 100 players on Major League Baseball rosters, making it the most of any nation other than the United States.
