Let’s try this again.
After explosives near the team bus derailed Tuesday’s attempts to play Champions League football, Borussia Dortmund will look to dust themselves off and host Monaco.
The blast occurred around six miles away from the stadium, shattering the glass on Dortmund’s bus. Defender Marc Bartra was the only person to need medical attention as a result of the incident, and his status for today’s game is unknown.
AS Monaco were preparing to play on Tuesday when they heard the news, and remained in the stadium while the fans evacuated. After it was decided the match would be postponed, the team had a short training session inside the empty stadium.
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke pointed out Tuesday that it might be difficult for his team to return their focus to the game.
“In such a crisis situation, all of Borussia will pull together,” he told reporters. “The team and coaches were shocked. Now we must channel it in some way.”
