This year’s WrestleMania is taking place at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. So what is the seating capacity of this stadium, and how much did it cost to build?
The Camping World Stadium, which opened in 1936, has a capacity of about 65,000. The arena used to hold more seats, but it was renovated in 2014. Now, the seating capacity is 60,219, but that can be extended to about 65,000 by adding temporary bleachers to the plaza section.
Prior to the 2014 renovations, the WWE was able to pack quite a substantial number of people into the Camping World Stadium for WrestleMania 24. For that 2008 event, nearly 75,000 people were in attendance.
When the stadium was originally constructed in 1936, it cost $115,000 to build, according to the Camping World Stadium website. This is approximately $2 million in today’s dollars.
However, a 1989 renovation cost $38 million, and the most recent renovation to the stadium in 2014 cost $207 million.
Outside of being frequently used for football and soccer, the Camping World Stadium was also the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics and of concerts from artists like Paul McCartney, Guns ‘N Roses, and The Rolling Stones.
