Finn Balor returned to Monday Night Raw on tonight’s show, the first episode after WrestleMania. So what do we know about the injury that kept Balor out of action for so long?
Finn Balor was legitimately injured at SummerSlam 2016, when he had a match against Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. He suffered a labrum tear, and he was forced to undergo surgery in September.
The injury happened during the moment in the match where Seth Rollins threw Finn Balor into the barricade.
After the surgery, it was reported that Finn Balor would be out of action for at least six months. It was thought that he could possibly make a surprisingly-early return for Royal Rumble, but unfortunately that was not the case, as Balor was not cleared by that point.
Finn Balor has been cleared to return for in-ring action for several weeks now, and he made his return on NXT on February 22nd, 2017.
For that reason, some fans expected Finn Balor to show up at WrestleMania, but it seems there simply was not enough room for him, and Monday Night Raw was the better spot for his return.
Balor teamed up with Seth Rollins in a match against Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens. Earlier in the night, Chris Jericho was to appear as Seth Rollins’ opponent, but he was attacked by Kevin Owens backstage, leaving an open spot for Balor to fill.
Some had speculated that Finn Balor might immediately go after the Universal Championship, since he never lost the title and simply had to give it up due to injury. However, it doesn’t seem that this will happen, as Universal Champion Brock Lesnar tonight began a feud with Braun Strowman.
