Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is officially the NBA king of three-point shooting.

Curry drilled the 2,974th three-pointer of his career on Tuesday night during the Dubs’ road game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, breaking Ray Allen’s all-time record for regular season three-point field goals. Allen had held the all-time three-point mark since February 10, 2011. Allen – then with the Boston Celtics – broke Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller’s record, which had been 2,560.

Steph Becomes Emotional Following History-Making Shot

Immediately following the historic connection, a timeout was called and both teams allowed the man of the hour to take some time to take in the moment. Whether he was hugging Allen, his mother Sonya, his father Dell, or his longtime teammate Draymond Green and longtime coach Steve Kerr, No. 30 was overcome with emotions.

The Warriors entered halftime of their contest trailing the Knicks 48-47. Curry ended the first half with 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting, including 3-for-6 on three-pointers.

Both Allen and Miller in the Building for Steph’s Record-Breaker

Making Tuesday’s history-making night even more special was the fact that both Allen and Miller were in attendance for the game. Miller was part of the NBA on TNT broadcast crew that announced Tuesday’s contest, while Allen enjoyed the game as a fan next to Miller.

Nobody knows who, if anybody, will ever break Steph’s new record. One thing is for certain though – No. 30 still has a lot left in the tank.
