Davante Adams, Visibly Livid After Chiefs Loss, Shoves Unsuspecting Worker

The Las Vegas Raiders, despite jumping out to a 17-0 lead, figured out how to lose yet another winnable game, falling 30-29 in Week 5 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wide receiver Davante Adams showed his frustration, shouting and throwing down his helmet on the sidelines after the Raiders failed to a convert a 4th-and-1 at their own 46-yard line with 47 seconds left in the game. Moments later, after the game ended, Adams shoved to the ground what appeared to be a member of the camera crew.

Talking to reporters after the game, Adams apologized to the worker.

“Before I answer anything else, I want to apologize to the guy — some guy running off the field, and he ran, jumped in front of me. We [were coming] off the field and bumped into him and I kind of pushed him, and he ended up on the ground,” Adams said. “And I just want to say sorry to him for that because that was just frustration, mixed with him literally just running in front of me. I shouldn’t have responded that way, but that’s how I initially responded.”

Adams also tweeted an apology, saying: “Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously very frustrated at the way the game ended and when he ran infront of me as I exited that was my reaction and I felt horrible immediately. Thats not me..MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this.”

Adams’ frustration peaked when he and Raiders wide receiver collided on the 4th-and-1 incomplete pass intended for Adams. Las Vegas turned over the ball on downs, and Chiefs ran out the clock to win the game.

Could Adams Be in Trouble for Shove?

Regardless of the circumstances, the NFL will likely punish Adams for his actions.

A suspension is possible, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The following morning, Pelissero also reported that the man reported the incident to the Kansas City Police Department.

“From the Kansas City Police Department on the police report filed by a photographer against #Raiders WR Davante Adams, alleging assault: “The injuries are preliminarily thought to be non-life threatening,” Pelissero tweeted just before noon Eastern time on October 11.

Heavy has reached out to the KCPD for a copy of the police report.

Adams, 29, who finished the game with three receptions (on seven targets) for 124 yards and two touchdowns, is five-time Pro Bowler who was traded in March 2022 to the Raiders by the Green Bay Packers. He subsequently signed a five-year extension worth $140 million that will keep in Las Vegas through the 2026 season. To this point, Adams has successfully avoided negative publicity.

Where Do the Raiders Go From Here?

Beating the Chiefs in Kansas City on Monday Night Football was exactly what the Raiders needed. Instead, they are 1-4 and in last place in the AFC West.

Each of the Raiders’ four losses was by one score, so the difference between their being 1-4 instead of 4-1 is small. With 12 games left, there is still time to turn around the season as they head into their bye week. The Raiders cannot afford to lose to the Houston Texans in Week 7 or they can kiss their season goodbye. It’s been about as bad of a start as possible but they can still get back into the playoff race if they go on a winning streak after the bye.
