New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson got hit on a deep pass attempt during the Week 7 matchup vs the New England Patriots and remained on the turf.
He was immediately attended to by the Jets medical personnel. Wilson was eventually able to get up and walk off the field under his own power.
After spending some time in the blue medical tent, he was quickly ushered back into the locker room.
***UPDATE***
After initially leaving the game in the second quarter with a right knee injury he was designated as questionable to return. Following halftime, the team ruled him out for the rest of the contest.
Backup quarterback Mike White was inserted in his stead.

Worst Fears Realized
Wilson finished the game having completed 6 of his 10 pass attempts for 51 yards. He was sacked one time and ended up with a 73.3 quarterback rating.
For Jets fans, their worst fears were realized when Wilson went crashing to the turf and didn’t get back up. At a minimum, he will miss the rest of this contest vs New England and he will undergo additional testing following this game to determine the extent of his injury.
Gang Green made a conscious decision this offseason not to add a proven veteran quarterback despite multiple opportunities to do. They could’ve traded for a Nick Foles, or signed any number of veterans in free agency, but head coach Robert Saleh remained adamant he was confident in his group that featured a relative unknown in White.
Of course, the devil’s advocate approach would argue that if Wilson got injured the team was screwed anyway.
It’s hard to disagree with that narrative considering the team was 1-4 heading into this second matchup with the Patriots.
Some Questionable Calls
Getting back to Wilson, he was hit in back-to-back plays in the second quarter and both of them were super questionable.
The former BYU stud was rolling out to the right and threw the ball away, but was hit low by Patriots defensive lineman Lawrence Guy.
After hitting him below the knee, Guy appeared to do a gator roll on his leg which could’ve caused an injury. If you have watched any NFL games this year, there have been far lesser calls that have resulted in a penalty.
Then on the very next play, Wilson rolled out to the left this time and unleashed a long ball before once again being hit by a Patriots defender. Yet this time after getting hit, Wilson didn’t pop right back up.
Either play could’ve resulted in a penalty, but nothing was thrown by the officials, which raised the ire of a lot of both fans and analysts alike on social media.
