Jaguars vs Eagles Preview
The Jaguars have been one of the NFL’s surprise teams so far as they’ve gotten off to a 2-1 start. The Eagles have been one of the best teams in the league as the only remaining undefeated team at 3-0.
The Jacksonville offense has averaged 28 points per game so far this season. Trevor Lawrence has led the way so far passing for 772 yards six touchdowns and one interception.
Christian Kirk has been well worth the money so far with 18 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Zay Jones has been a solid number two option with 19 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown.
The Jaguars have rushed for 370 yards as a team so far while averaging 4.1 yards per carry. James Robinson has been the teams leading rusher with 230 yards and three touchdowns.
The Jacksonville defense has been strong so far as they’ve held opponents to 12.7 points per game. The unit has recorded seven sacks and forced eight turnovers already this season.
The Eagles’ offense has been hot to start the season as they’ve averaged 28.7 points per game. The offense has also racked up 455.7 yards per game.
Jalen Hurts has had an MVP-caliber start to the season with 1,083 yards of total offense with seven total touchdowns and one interception. The acquisition of AJ Brown has paid off huge for the Eagles so far with 20 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown.
DeVonta Smith is also having a big season with 15 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown. Miles Sanders has been the teams leading rusher with 222 yards and a touchdown.
After a rough start to the season, the Eagles’ defense has settled in and is holding opponents to 16.7 points per contest. The Philadelphia pass rush has been a force with 12 sacks already this season, along with forcing five turnovers.
Looking at the numbers, these two teams are pretty similar on both sides of the ball. The Jaguars could give the Eagles a tough test and could be the team to knock off the last undefeated team.
If Hurts continues to play at the level he’s been playing at then the Eagles will be hard for any team to beat. However, Jaguars head coach and former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson could have revenge on his mind.
