Tamagotchi Pet-Raising Simulator is Back as iPhone/Android App

Tamagotchi app

Bandai has announced that its line of electronic pet raising simulation games will be coming to iPhone and Android devices. This time, it will be renamed Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.

This new app will soon be available for download via Google Play and the online Apple Store.

For fans of the original Tamagotchi games, the new app will feature a “Retro Mode,” which will offer players a version of the original game. This mode will also offer mini-games and new options that will give the mode a more modern feel.

Tamagotchi App

The original game was first introduced in Japan in 1996. Players would get to see their virtual pet come to life after watching it hatch onscreen. Then, players would be responsible for the pet by feeding it and making sure it gets good sleep.

Back in the late ’90s, when the school playgrounds were filled with kids sitting instead of actually moving around, chances are their focus primarily stayed on their Tamagotchi e-pet’s.

Tamagotchi’s success is noteworthy, as its worldwide sales catapulted to 78 million units.

Bandai provided a statement to The Telegraph:

The original Tamagotchi was first released 16 years ago and took the world by storm. Everyone had a Tamagotchi and loved taking care of their digital pets. The new Tamagotchi app will feature the same gameplay you know and love with a number of exciting new features. Fans who grew up with Tamagotchi are today, positive, assured, intrepid, cooperative and empowering.

L.i.f.e. is an acronym for “Love is fun everywhere.” No official release date has been revealed by Bandai just yet.
