New Google Nexus 10 Tablet, Google TV Update, On the Horizon?

According to Android And Me and the Wall Street Journal, Google and Android are prepping even more releases for the fall.

The new Nexus 7 was announced today to much aplomb from critics and analysts alike. Building off of the stellar Nexus 7 tablet, the new 7-inch device from Google has an amazing screen, fantastic battery life, and speedy performance. But, at the Google event today, Android head Sundar Pichai gave some hints regarding future Android devices that could be coming to the market soon.

The Wall Street Journal’s Amir Efrati spoke to Pichai after the event.

Essentially, Pichai hinted that a new Nexus 10 and an update to the Google TV is set for the Fall, which is probably a good idea. Apple will undoubtably introduce a slew of products (in a his Q1 conference call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said to expect products (in the second half of 2013 and the beginning of 2014), including a few new iPhones, the iPad Mini 2, and maybe even a 13-inch iPad. So, when Apple comes out and releases a new “big” tablet, Google can strike back by unveiling a new Nexus 10.

The update to Google TV is an interesting development as well. After ChromeCast — the $35 media streamer that is essentially a USB dongle — was unveiled today to dropped jaws, it was assumed that Google TV would be discontinued. The Google TV media streamer that hasn’t really transformed the living room as Google initially said it would, and with ChomeCast revealed and seemingly a lot more powerful than the Google TV, it would make sense for Google to focus on ChromeCast. This hints that Google may be saving a revolutionary feature for the new Google TV update. In the constantly developing world of streaming TV, Google’s new feature could be big…or lackluster. We’ll have to wait and see.
