2. Her Father Died When She Was a Teenager
Shayk was born to a coal miner named Valery and a kindergarten music teacher named Olga. Shayk began playing the piano at age six and later enrolled in a music school to further study piano and sing in the choir. This was the influence of her mother. Her father, on the other hand, sadly passed away from complications of pneumonia when Shayk was just 14 years old. In turn her family was left with very little money and her mother had to work multiple jobs to support the family.
3. Shayk Has Had Modeling Gigs With Many Well-Known Brands
In addition to Sports Illustrated, Shayk was a prominent face in campaigns of brands including Victoria’s Secret, Lacoste, Armani Exchange, Beach Bunny, and Guess. In fact, it was while modeling for Armani Exchange’s 2010 campaign that she met boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Shayk has also appeared on the covers of magazines including Glamour, Ocean Drive, GQ, Esquire UK, Harper’s Bazaar, and many others.
4. Hercules Was Her First Movie

5. She’s the Official Ambassador for Pomogi Charity in Russia
Shayk once took time with her sister to help a hospital in her hometown Yemanzhelinsk by rebuilding the children’s ward with the assistance of others. Since then, Shayk helps to raise money for the Pomogi charity, which gives care to sick children.
