Host Seth Meyers delivered a comedic performance for the opening of the 2014 Emmy Awards tonight. Meyers started off by joking about how the awards were held on a Monday night because of the VMA’s saying that it looks like the Emmys are going to get cancelled. He then joked about how the Emmys were held a month earlier so it didn’t compete with football season. He then added that in 1976 was the last time the Emmy Awards were held on a Monday night.
Meyers then joked about asking Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for help with his speech before cracking jokes about some of the nominees and the networks. He then revealed that Game of Thrones is nominated for 19 Emmy Awards tonight and Netflix has 31 nominations.
