WATCH: Reveal Trailers for ‘Sonic Mania,’ ‘Project Sonic 2017’ & ‘Lego Dimensions’ Content

Sega’s “Blue Blur” has seen his fair share of more down moments lately, but things are looking up for Sonic the Hedgehog. During the character’s big 25th anniversary celebration, fans got to see three awesome trailers for upcoming Sonic content in games form.

A welcome return Sonic’s glory days was revealed – Sonic Mania. This 2D platformer (which will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in Spring 2017) is a joint project between Sonic Team and indie development team Pagoda West. Old and new zones will be playable, plus you’ll get to run through them all as either Sonic, Tails or Knuckles. You can see this nostalgia infused game in action above. You can also check out gameplay of the game’s Studiopolis Zone at this link.

Next up is a good look at Sonic’s inclusion within the franchise universe spanning game, Lego Dimensions. Lego Sonic moves just as fast as his non-blocky self and can be seen speeding through his world and others (Adventure Time, Portal, Ghostbusters etc.). Sonic’s Lego Dimensions pack will release in November 2016 and will include him, his Speedster car and Tails’ Tornado airplane. Be sure to see all of Sonic’s blocky action in the video posted above.

For the final trailer that got its grand debut, Sega saved the best for last. The next 3D adventure for Sonic looks like it’s returning to the theme that made Sonic Generations such a success: the addition of Retro Sonic as a playable character. Project Sonic 2017’s teaser trailer shows modern Sonic fending off some massive robots alongside his chubbier self amongst the ruins of a burning city. Sonic Team is currently hard at work on this much anticipated project. This title is slated to speed onto the Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo’s upcoming “NX” console.
